When I’m Bored — As a Techie
When I’m Bored — As a Techie
After a long time, here’s a fun little article. Maybe you’ll pick up a few ideas too.
Not all boredom is bad — sometimes it’s where the best ideas come from.
1. Monkeytype Sessions
Whenever I’m bored, confused, or mentally frozen from work, I end up on Monkeytype.
It’s oddly calming — part stress relief, part coping mechanism.
2. Hunting Beautiful Frontend Pieces on CodePen
Way more satisfying (to me) than scrolling Pinterest or Dribbble.
Watching creative frontend snippets feels like digital art therapy.
3. Browsing Random GitHub Repos for Inspiration
(…and never building most of them)
I have a wishlist full of ideas I’ll “build someday,” but realistically I can only do one thing at a time.
If you’re bored, this goldmine is worth a visit:

4. Picking a New Stack and Following a Tutorial
Most of my public projects are in Python, Flutter, or PHP — but I love experimenting.
I randomly follow tutorials for completely new stacks and build small things.
Since I don’t need to be an expert, it feels light and fun.
5. Saving Tech Reels, Posts, and Videos
I save everything — LinkedIn posts, Instagram reels, YouTube videos.
Do I revisit them? Sometimes yes, sometimes never.
And occasionally, I sit down and clear the entire “saved” or “watch later” list in one go.
Bonus: My Favorite Habit
Asking “how does this work?” or “why can’t this be done?” all the time.
That curiosity loop itself is entertainment.
So tell me — what do you do when you’re bored as a techie?
